Does it make sense?
Sir William Blackstone’s (1723-1780) lectures on English common are preserved in a four-volume set entitled, Commentaries on the Laws of England, and endure as one of the greatest works of scholarship on English common law in history. Blackstone began his lectures on the common law in 1753. His Commentaries served as a primary tool of instruction in America well into the nineteenth century and exerted a pronounced influence on the development of the American law and jurisprudence. Said he,
Man … must necessarily be subject to the laws of his Creator.. This will of his Maker is called the law of nature…. This law of nature…is of course superior to any other…. No human laws are of any validity, if contrary to this: and such of them as are valid derive all their force…from this original.
